Families Transportation Assistance, through Mobility Program, Tompkins County
Department of Social Services: If you work or are
looking for work and meet the program criteria, you can get three months of bus
passes or three months of gas mileage support. You can qualify if you meet one
of these criteria: You have a child under the age of 18 in your household; or
you have a child under the age of 19 who goes to high school or BOCES in your
household; or, a household member is pregnant; or you have a child under the
age of 18 who does not live with you.
And you meet ALL of these criteria: You get food stamps or Medicaid or
have household income less than 200 percent of federal poverty level. (DSS can
look this up for you); you are working or looking for work; you live in
Tompkins County; and you are a U.S. citizen or have immigration status.

Vanpool: TCAT has
contracted with VPSI, Inc., based in Troy, Mich., to provide the vehicles and
administrative support for a community vanpool program. A vanpool is a group of 7 to 15
people who commute together on a regular basis in a commuter van. The
commuters live near each other and/or work near each other. Typically,
although not always, these commuters do not live close to a fixed bus
route.

CityVan,
a way to go from Newfield and Enfield to Ithaca. CityVan is operated by Ithaca
Dispatch under contract with Tompkins County. CityVan takes residents in
Newfield and Enfield to Ithaca five times a day on weekdays, Monday through
Friday. The one-way price is $3 for adults 18 and older and $2 for youth 6-17.
Children 5 years and under are free when riding with an adult. There is a limite
of 3 children per adult. Call 277-7777 to reserve a trip 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. The earlier you call, the more certain you will be to reserve a
trip at the time you want.
