TCAT is trying to figure out why one of is major routes — Route 11 serving Ithaca College and the South Hill area — is losing ridership.
To that end, TCAT is asking current and would-be Route 11 riders to click on TCAT Route 11 survey to help planners strategize and reverse the trend.
System-wide, TCAT’s ridership is on the upswing, but typically robust Route 11 ridership is down by 12.2 percent so far this year, on heels of a 10 percent drop in 2017. Last year’s Route 11 ridership was 193,620 compared to 215,172 in 2016.
Those taking the survey will be immediately entered into a a drawing to win a free monthly zone 2 pass valued at $60.00. Most importantly, planners will use the results to regain and attract new riders and enjoy the financial, environmental and many other benefits of using public transit.
